Rank system
Rank system in WWII Online
The Rank system in WWII Online shows a player's personal progress within the various weapon types. Ranks are not awarded simply through playing time, but through active missions, completed tasks and successful sorties.
1. Gain experience
You collect points for your career through missions as an infantryman, tank driver, pilot, sailor or operating crew.
2. Complete missions
Successful sorties, kills, captures, defenses and RTB have a positive effect on progress.
3. Unlock ranks
As your rank increases, you gain access to additional or specialized units within the respective weapon branch.
4. Specialization
Progress occurs separately by area. A good tank driver is not automatically an experienced pilot.
How DO you rise in rank?
- You start a mission and choose an available unit.
- During the Sortie, you gain performance through actions in battle.
- Important actions include kills, hits, captures, defense and support.
- A successful conclusion with RTB or RES is more valuable than a loss.
- After the sorting, your results will be evaluated.
- With enough experience, your rank in the respective career increases.
Important careers
| career | Typical units | Progress through |
|---|---|---|
| infantry | Rifleman, SMG, LMG, Sapper, Engineer | Captures, Defense, Kills, RTB |
| Tanks/vehicles | Tanks, scout cars, tank destroyers, trucks | Vehicle kills, support, survival |
| Artillery / guns | AT guns, anti-aircraft guns, field guns | Hits, kills, holding position |
| air force | Fighters, bombers, transport aircraft | Air victories, ground targets, bomb hits, RTB |
| marine | Boats, ships, landing craft, marine infantry | Naval battles, transport, support |
Why ranks are important
Ranks in WWII Online are not just awards. They also affect which units a player can use. New players start with basic equipment. As you gain experience, additional roles, weapons and vehicles become available.
RTB, RES, MIA and KIA
| status | Meaning | Influence on progress |
|---|---|---|
| RTB | Return to Base | Very good finish as the unit and players return successfully. |
| RES | Rescued | Better than loss because the unity is not completely lost. |
| MIA | Missing in action | Less favorable because the unit is considered lost. |
| KIA | Killed in action | Worst finish as players and unit were lost. |
Tips for quick progress
- Actively play on AO and DO objectives because campaign-relevant actions take place there.
- Try to finish missions with RTB or RES.
- Support captures and defenses instead of just playing for kills.
- Use appropriate units for the respective situation.
- Stick to one career path if you want to specifically unlock equipment there.
- Work together with Squad or Mission Leader to make more impact in battle.
At a glance
| action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Take capture point | Gives valuable progress for infantry and also supports your faction's attack or defense case. |
| Eliminate enemy unit | Increases progress depending on your faction's role and objective. |
| Complete mission successfully | Improves the evaluation of the sort. |
| Reach RTB | Very positive conclusion for players and supplies. |
| Often go KIA/MIA | Slows progress and drains your chosen faction's supplies. |
| Increase rank | Unlocks additional units and roles. |
Play missions, complete tasks, survive your sorties if possible with mission completion RTB and support your group. This will increase your rank and give you access to more units.
